Quintessential Thought

In our quest to drive change, it's essential to grasp the delicate interplay between our logical reasoning, our emotional impulses, and the environment in which we function.

Picture the coordination of a rider and an elephant on a trail. The rider, signifying our logical side, holds the roadmap and direction. This is where our structured thinking and plans reside. Yet, the journey's momentum is fueled by the elephant, symbolizing our emotional desires. When our passion aligns with purpose, the journey gains momentum. When they don’t, say if the rider wants to go somewhere and the elephant doesn’t, the journey promptly halts.

However, their cooperative intent alone isn't enough. The path they navigate – our environment – can either propel or impede progress. Like a trail strewn with hurdles or barricades, if our environment isn't supportive or is rife with challenges, it can stymie even the most passionate and well-intentioned endeavors.

To truly catalyze transformation, we must align our thoughts and emotions, but equally crucial is crafting an environment that nurtures growth. To achieve our aspirations, it's vital to clarify our logical goals, kindle our emotional fire, and streamline the path ahead. By holistically addressing these three foundational pillars, we pave the way for impactful change, leading us towards our envisioned future with determination and zest.

Quotes

“When dealing with people, remember you are not dealing with creatures of logic, but with creatures of emotion.” -Dale Carnegie

“Logic will never change emotion or perception.” - Edward de Bono

“Change is hard because people wear themselves out.” - Chip and Dan Heath

Quick Step

Think about your change effort. If you were to ask others, which element is most lacking in your efforts? The rational side? The emotional side? Or the environment?
